The Event Boutique

1) Can you tell us a little bit about your business and what you bring to the wedding scene?

I’ve spent many years travelling and working overseas and so have been inspired by international styling. I set up The Event Boutique to offer unique and elegant furniture and styling products, and design and style magical environments for our clients to celebrate in style.

2) What are you most looking forward to at the Christchurch Wedding Fair in April?

To meet brides who are interested in having a unique and elegant wedding, custom-designed to suit what they love, and will be excited to see what we can offer.

3) What sets this Wedding Fair apart from other wedding showcase events you’ve attended?

I love that it’s small and boutique with like-minded industry professionals who are bringing international trends to New Zealand.

4) How do you personally hope to inspire Christchurch brides-to-be for their up-coming weddings?

To realise that they can work with The Event Boutique to deliver the bespoke wedding style they would love.

5) Can you reveal a little about what we can expect to see from you at the Christchurch Wedding Fair?

The Event Boutique will have a gorgeous ceremony setting on display!

6) Finally, what is your new favourite wedding trend to enter the 2016 season?

I’m loving the use of vibrant lush colours, but completely encourage brides to fully embrace personalising their wedding to their own style to reflect what they love, so that it is meaningful for them.

2) What are you most looking forward to at the Christchurch Wedding Fair in April?

The close of the wedding season brings us to a time where we can put some thought into the season ahead, and try some new trends, and introduce fresh ideas to our brides. For us, time to contemplate and try out new things is always a highlight. It is lovely to talk to engaged couples and see where their inspiration lies and how we can enhance and help them extend that so they can create a truly memorable occasion for their friends and family.

3) What sets this Wedding Fair apart from other wedding showcase events you’ve attended?

Working  closely with other vendors to create some new ideas and pulling looks together is always a highlight for me! The fact that we get to do this again – this time in the KIWI TIPI at Cossars is a treat!

4) How do you personally hope to inspire Christchurch brides-to-be for their up-coming weddings?

The great thing about the fair is the scope and space that we get to showcase what we do. Working closely with other vendors, we are able to create vignettes so that brides can get a feel of how this could relate to their big day.

5) Can you reveal a little about what we can expect to see from you at the Christchurch Wedding Fair?

We will have our flower wall featured and on display, as well as some other exciting pieces that people will be able to enjoy and appreciate. One or two strategically placed feature pieces provides great impact and effect – people’s eyes will be drawn to them and you will have to less decorating elsewhere!

6) Finally, what is your new favourite wedding trend to enter the 2016 season?

Classic abundance is making a great comeback as well as tall centrepieces. Done well, these can really help create a sense of occasion. There is nothing more memorable than walking into a room that absolutely takes your breath away! It is great to see more people embracing the gold and sparkle as well!

2) What are you most looking forward to at the Christchurch Wedding Fair in April?

I am looking forward to meeting other industry professionals in the region and creating some great business contacts – The Wedding Fairs attract the most creative and most dedicated industry players, we look forward to having some great collaborative conversations with these talented vendors.

3) What sets this Wedding Fair apart from other wedding showcase events you’ve attended?

The beautiful open plan setting allows for exploration and open dialogue with a variety of vendors for visitors and vendors alike.

4) How do you personally hope to inspire Christchurch brides-to-be for their up-coming weddings?

We hope we can inspire the DIY’s out there to get creative and set about creating their very own instant venues using Hirepool Events’ large range of hire products.

5) Can you reveal a little about what we can expect to see from you at the Christchurch Wedding Fair?

We are going to take a rather ordinary item and transform it into an absolute must-have luxury item for gorgeous brides and their bridal parties.

6) Finally, what is your new favourite wedding trend to enter the 2016 season?

Patterned linen – brides and grooms are becoming braver and opting out of the traditional white on white. Instead of colour added through the use of the traditional table runner, why not ditch the runner altogether and use beautiful soft retro florals with mismatched vases?

Bohemian Glam Zone – Christchurch Wedding Fair 2014

Bohemian Glam Zone – Christchurch Wedding Fair 2014

With flowers in her hair and grace in her heart. Our Bohemian Glam Zone this year has been inspired by the free-spirited modern bohemian bride.

Samantha from Balencia Lane is the stylist and planner in this area and here is what she had to say about it.

Based in the main reception building at Cossars, there will be beautiful long table settings over flowing with wild flowers, french lace, dream catchers and gold dipped feathers. The Drawing Room will be completing our table settings with stationery to reflect our creative bohemian style. We hope to have a lace Aisle runner up the centre of the room toward the french doors which will have a macrame backdrop, dipped in gold and draped in flowers for our Wedding archway. Either side of this we have wine barrels and wooden crates covered in beautiful Cakes By Anna, tasty food samples from The Catering Dept, wild flowers, touches of antique gold, and rustic deer antlers. In this zone we will also have a “beauty section” with stunning dresses by Caroline Campion Couture, and learn boho bridal beauty secrets from MYAMAKEUP. For your Bridal wear inspiration there will be beautiful models wandering our zone wearing bespoke gowns by Caroline Campion and floral crowns by our zones talented florist Ginny from Charmed Flowers. You can meet and chat with the lovely photographer Kate from Kaleidoscope and swoon over her image display in hanging dream catchers.

Pinterest inspiration below:

We asked Kate to tell us a bit about herself.

Hello! My name is Kate. I love taking pictures, hanging out with my fiance Simon and our pooch, Poppy. As a bride- to- be myself, I understand how exciting, daunting and stressful wedding planning can be – and that’s where Kaleidoscope comes in! Here’s me in a nutshell: “Kate’s naturalistic documentary style together with her relaxed, yet professional approach, is steadily gaining her fond affection amongst wedding couples. Those looking for a photographer who blends effortlessly into the background in order to capture the intimate nuances of human relationships and magical moments of a bride and groom’s special day, will be suitably impressed with Kate’s abilities, which result in beautiful images you and your family will treasure for many years to come.”

I would love to be a part of your special day and look forward to meeting with you soon!

The NZ Wedding Fair is going to be such a wonderful wealth of knowledge and contacts to help you plan your wedding. I’m really excited to be showing my work here and also have the ability to check out some fantastic vendors myself! It’s so easy to get overwhelmed trawling through the likes of Pinterest for wedding styles and inspiration. I know it will be such a relief to arrive at one venue and have everything organised and styled right in front of you. See you there! X

Come alone and meet Myamakeup- they might even put a little bit of lippy on your or make your cheeky glow.

Myamakeup is an award winning Cantebury makeup and hair artist. She is very good at what she does and has both mobile and have a studio so whatever suits the client. Having professional hair and makeup on your big day is a must.

It’s my goal to make you look as amazing as possible in your big day so the photos and your guests will be in awe. I can be as enhancing or as creative as you want, if you don’t know what you want we can talk about it and find something that suits your needs.

We can wait to see what the catering department will do in this section,

The Catering Dept is the dawn of a new era in catering – no wait, it’s bigger than that. It’s the genesis of years of research and analysis into eating trends – no, can’t pull that one off. Okay basically, it’s great food that we love to eat.

We also like to present our food and our staff in an edgy modern style without any unnecessary formality. We are approachable but sharp and professional. Not out of place at end of day drinks on a construction site, not out of place at a client dinner.

We also asked Caroline Campion what you will find in this section and what she loves about what she does

Guests can view the 2014 range of silk vintage style dresses with rustic elements, which are all made and designed in New Zealand. Each dress is purposefully cut to flatter the various female figures, and there is a something for every shape.  Being made locally, we can customize any style and colour to the bride’s preference.

I really enjoy working with brides to create their ultimate dress and especially love that final try on when it’s all come together.  The most important aspect for me is designing flattering dresses that suit a bride’s personality and give her the confidence to rock it on her wedding day in front of all those guests!

Charmed Flowers:

This is the second zone that Charmed Flowers is creating flowers for.  Here is what Ginny had to say about this zone:  Creating floral designs that are just that little bit different is what I love and am passionate about.  I like to take the time to really listen to what the couple wants and in the process learn a little about their personality so that I can create floral designs that truly reflect their own sense of style and personality.  The floral styling for the Boho Glam zone is created with a nature loving, free spirited Bride in mind.  An abundance of colourful flowers reminiscent of a wildflower meadow will run the length of a long table and cascade naturally down the sides. Our models will have pretty floral crowns and combs in their hair and carry loosely styled bouquets for that “picked straight from the garden” look.  Flowers will also adorn the macrame backdrop and a beautiful crystal chandelier dripping with flowers will add that touch of glam.

For sale at the fair will also be Charmed Flowers bespoke bouquet charms.  I began creating these charms when I started Charmed Flowers four years ago, and actually its how we got the business name! At the time we were the only place you could get them in NZ so they were shipped all over the country.  Its a beautiful way to remember a loved one that can not be with you on your special day and a lovely keepsake too.

Don’t forget that the Amazing Travelling Photo booth and Cossars Wine shed will be in this areas as well so you can have a little wine tasting and a photo to take home too.

See you all there xo
