What an amazing day, the sun was shining on a beautiful winters day and all the vendors sites were so creative and inspirational.

The day was beautifully styled by Kath from One Fine day who also had a ceremony set up outside.

The beautiful fire to sit around and toast a marshmallow or 2.

Queenstown Wedding Fair Vendor – Cakes Of Wanaka

Queenstown Wedding Fair Vendor – Cakes Of Wanaka

More Yummynes from Wanaka, Here is a bit about Clare and her business

What do you love best about what you do?

I love the look of a totally finished cake.  Once the final row of ribbon goes on around the board, I can sit back and admire. Any cake with a beautiful bunch of handmade flowers makes my day.  Occasionally I get couples that ‘step outside the box’ a little, and those are the cakes I especially love doing, ones with a bit of POP, or a little more challenging.

Whats your favourite thing to do on your day off?

Hate to admit it since I live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, but sleep. I miss sleep alot during wedding season.  But apart from that I love an afternoon wine, in the sun, soaking up the views.

Tell us something about you?

love to travel, dont do nearly enough of it, and one day I am going to Italy for a month or 2 just to soak up the atmosphere, the fabulous food and of course the local wines.  Of course, I would be gong via France for research and via New York for shopping and meeting cake idols!  I’m a wee bit obsessed with cakes, and there are some outstanding overseas designers that I would give my right arm to meet.

Whats do you think is new and upcoming in weddings?

Bold colours, metallics, hand piping and a growing trend overseas back to a memorable cake that makes a statement.  Taller the better.  All finished off with a gorgeous cake stand.  Theres also more focus on handmade flowers that match themes and bridal bouquets.  We can pretty much make any sort of flowers at Cakes of Wanaka.

What can guests expect from you at the fair (that maybe they wouldn’t otherwise see)?

Come and try some tasty wee treats. For the 1st time, I will be taking little cakes, so the set up will give couples an idea of a dessert buffet setup, also a growing trend.  Also the cakes on display will be all new, not yet seen in my lakefront shop or on FB.  Emphasis on pretty!

Queenstown Wedding Fair Vendor – The Rippon Hall

Queenstown Wedding Fair Vendor – The Rippon Hall

The Rippon Hall is vineyard venue located in the most spectacular spot- we’re lucky enough to overlook Rippon vineyard, Lake Wanaka, and the Southern Alps. The Hall is made from rammed earth dug from our hillside, and timber from our wood, so it a very special feel.

We’re a blank canvas venue, so each couple personally chooses all their details- furniture, catering, styling- everything is unique to them. We can host any size: from just the bride and groom up to 200 guests. The combination of flexible spaces coupled with no preferred suppliers gives each couple complete control & flexibility in creating their dream wedding. Oh, and the Rippon wine- it’s amazing!

What do you love best about what you do?

There are heaps of different aspects to my job and they’re all brilliant in their own way- from liaising with couples, to the wine side of the business, planning with suppliers, to taking care of the building.

My favourite bit has to be when I’m meeting a couple for the first time and I take them through to The Hall- that moment when they understand the potential for The Hall to fulfil all the wedding dreams they ever had and a light goes on behind their eyes- it’s pretty special.

What’s your favourite thing to do on your day off?

Skiing is the only thing to do on my day off- there’s no choice involved! Or if it’s summer, I’m riding bikes.

Tell us something about you?

I’m originally from the UK, and fell in love with Wanaka whilst supposedly only away for a year… it’s been a lot more than that now. I’m a baking geek and I love a good yoga pose.

What do you think is new and upcoming in weddings?

I think there’s a bigger lean towards unconventional ways of doing things- leaning away from the traditional set order for the day. Cake first anyone? Also a focus on really entertaining the guests whilst the couple nip away for photographs, and a more informal, sharing style of catering.

What can guests expect from you at the fair (that maybe they wouldn’t otherwise see)?

A lot of my couples are based overseas- so to start with, they can meet me! Couples can also hear all about how The Rippon Hall came to be and the family story (with the odd juicy detail) and can see lots of images of how other couple have used The Hall’s spaces & styled in the past- for inspiration.

Queenstown Wedding Fair Vendor – Road To Beauty

Queenstown Wedding Fair Vendor – Road To Beauty

Road to Beauty are a team of Makeup Artists, Hair Stylists and Beauty Therapists. We put together customised and all-inclusive wedding and event packages relative to your special day. Mobile or in Salon, we can cater for 1 person through to larger groups. From the pre-wedding pampering and necessities, hair and makeup trials right through to the big day.  As we are a team at Road to Beauty – we have a lot of experts in their individual professional fields.   We allocate the correct professionals to your style and requirements.   At the ripe age of 46, having children and travelled, it enables me to relate to all kinds of people and situations, understanding what people want and making them feel special.

What do you love best about what you do?

I love that I get to utilise years of finely honed skills with makeup all day, every day and see people ecstatic and thankful when my work is complete.  I love that I get to see and meet people on one of their most happiest and memorable days.  It is an honour and a privilege to be part of that.  To make them feel special, unique and listen to their wishes is indeed a very special job.  Makeup and Hair is very much in people’s personal spaces, so requires certain amounts of life skills.  The emotions that occur prior to and during a wedding are special and confidential to them. I have left many a wedding preparation feeling extremely honoured to have been part of it all, and ….. have shed a few tears on occasion :).

Whats your favourite thing to do on your day off?

Do anything with my beautiful boys Fergus (11), Rory (9) and my forever understanding husband Craig.  Catch up with friends and family, drink wine and ski either on the lake or the mountain.

Tell us something about you?

I was born in Scotland and moved out to New Zealand when I was 7.  I returned to the UK for 7 years in the 90’s and travelled extensively. My husband and I moved to Wanaka 10 years ago from Auckland for lifestyle having 2 busy extreme boys and have not looked back. I have been obsessed with makeup since I could walk –  I drove my entire family crazy by shaving chalk particles and adding water to it to make coloured pastes to paint all over my dolls and in turn my poor long suffering sisters.  Spending any pocket money I had on lipsticks and eyeshadows and playing for hours with it instead of studying.  Safe to say – nothing has changed on the makeup front; I continuously research products and test anything of interest. At least all the makeup is safe in my all male household.

Whats do you think is new and upcoming in weddings?

With the Same Sex weddings now being allowed in NZ, I  think we will definitely be a preferred destination choice.

I am seeing with a lot of my brides currently, reverting back to more  traditional methods again.  Hand written notes etc.

What can guests expect from you at the fair (that maybe they wouldn’t otherwise see)?

A personal touch.  They can get to meet us and talk things through instead of email and Skype.
